UC8
UC8 is UCL’s auditioned vocal consort, performing two concerts a year. The group of eight singers performs one-to-a-part music in close harmony, ranging from choral classics to contemporary music. Some pieces from the range of music we’ve recently performed include: Nunc Dimittis (Holst), Lux Aurumque (Whitacre), A Prayer (Burton), and In Spirit Humiliatis (Croce).

Rehearsals: Wednesday ; 16:00 - 18:30
Audition: Every year, the whole group is reauditioned: auditions consist of a prepared piece of the auditonee’s choice, some sight-reading, and some aural tests

UC8 focuses on classical, choral repertoire - unlike a cappella, there’s no rhythm section to the ensemble, as all of the music is produced by voices.

All sorts! Last spring, we sang a concert that included both a Beatles cover and Allegri’s Miserere.

Audition slots will be on the 13th, 14th and 15th of October.

Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays, from 4-6.30.

Pick anything you know well and really enjoy singing, something that demonstrates your ability. The format of the audition will also involve some sight-reading, some aural tests and a chat about previous experience.
